[vc_row][vc_column][vc_column_text]From may 14th to july 31st – HAUSER & WIRTH Gallery in NEW YORK (18th rue) shows THE ETHICS OF DESIRE by american IDA APPLEBROOG. At the avant-garde of feminism, this artist works on several themes : home space and woman’s sexuality, power and violence, etc. Ida Applebroog presents The Ethics of Desire in reference to Plato, especially about desire and its way to activate Human being in many ways, according to the fact that he/she resists or yields to this desire. Her recent works are presented on six panels, as an installation. Associated with painted chairs in scenes of life at home and a film. Simplifying the human shapes, six paintings evoke French-Cancan by dressed or naked walking women. The film 'It’s No Use Alberto’ (1978) – seen for the first time at Whitney Museum of American Art – tells through puppets, the female-male relationship. For example, a sequence shows a headless man on his knees facing a woman.
